Cognida acquires Automate, an enterprise AI platform for accounting and operational workflows

Cognida acquires Automate, an enterprise AI platform for accounting and operational workflows

Automate applies AI to complex, high-accountability accounting and operational workflows within quote-to-cash and procure-to-pay, including ASC 606 revenue accounting, contract review and deal-desk operations, order management, invoice and expense processing, purchase-order matching, and compliance. The platform turns contracts and business information into auditable decisions and actions by applying accounting policies, enterprise rules, and controls; routing exceptions and approvals; and integrating with core ERP and CRM systems.

Proven in production across large public companies, PE-backed enterprises, and high-growth private technology companies, Automate has processed millions of business documents in controlled, auditable accounting and operational workflows where accuracy and accountability are essential. The acquisition brings Cognida an established software platform, deep accounting and operations expertise, an experienced team, and trusted enterprise relationships. It also advances Cognida’s evolution as an AI-native enterprise solutions company combining services, software, domain expertise, and owned intellectual property.

“Most enterprises today have AI pilots, not AI operations. The gap between the two is not model capability. It is context, controls, and accountability,” said Feroze Mohammed, founder and CEO of Cognida. “What enterprises need is an operating model that connects data, policies, domain knowledge, workflows, AI systems, and people into something dependable enough to run critical parts of the business. Automate gives us a proven foundation inside accounting and operational workflows where outcomes must be accurate, controlled, and auditable.”

Accelerating Automate’s next chapter

Automate will continue as a distinct product offering within Cognida, with the existing leadership and team in place. As part of Cognida, customers will benefit from expanded engineering and customer-success capacity, deeper and faster integrations, and accelerated development of AI-powered capabilities across accounting and operations.

The entire Automate team is joining Cognida, preserving important product, domain, implementation, and customer knowledge. Nick Tiscornia continues as general manager of Automate and Rama Pagadala as senior vice president of engineering. Together, they will lead the business into its next phase, combining Automate’s accounting-domain expertise with Cognida’s broader AI engineering, data-platform, transformation, integration, and customer-success capabilities.

“Our customers depend on Automate for work that has to be right the first time. That doesn’t change, and neither does the team behind it,” said Nick Tiscornia, general manager of Automate at Cognida. “What does change is the scale of what we can build. As a core part of Cognida’s strategy, Automate now has access to greater engineering depth and broader data and AI capabilities.”

Cognida had worked directly with Automate before the transaction, giving it firsthand knowledge of the platform, its implementation environment, its team, and the needs of its customers. That shared history supports a smooth transition, allowing the combined team to move quickly on the product roadmap and new customer opportunities.

Perspectives on the transaction

For Within, the transaction sharpens the company’s focus on its core platform while placing Automate with an organization equipped to invest in it.

“Klarity Automate has built a strong position by applying AI to complex, high-value enterprise workflows,” said Andrew Antos, co-founder and CEO of Within. “As Within continues to build the Company Brain that captures how work gets done and continuously reallocates work between people and agents, we wanted Automate to move to an organization with the commitment, capabilities, and customer orientation required to support its next phase of growth. Cognida already had meaningful familiarity with the platform and the team over a three-year partnership. That gave us confidence that Automate would move to an organization that respects what has been built, understands its customers, and has the capabilities to help it grow.”

Customers who have worked with both organizations see the combination as complementary.

“I’ve worked with Automate since its early days and have also seen Cognida’s capabilities firsthand through our finance transformation and revenue analytics work together,” said Jason Durham, chief accounting officer at Tyler Technologies. “Automate has earned trust in complex accounting workflows where accuracy, controls, and auditability are essential. Cognida combines deep accounting-domain knowledge with strong data, AI, and execution capabilities. Together, they have a powerful foundation to accelerate innovation and expand Automate’s impact across enterprise accounting and operations.”

Building the operating foundation for AI-native accounting and operations

Cognida believes the next generation of enterprise AI will not be built around models or isolated applications alone. It will require an AI operating model that connects enterprise data and systems with domain knowledge, business policies, operational context, controls, AI systems, and human accountability.

That capability is difficult to build and replicate. It develops through sustained production deployments in real enterprise environments and depends on business context and institutional knowledge that technology alone cannot provide.

Cognida’s model is designed to compound that capability. Services bring Cognida close to enterprise problems and the context in which work gets done. Software converts that experience into repeatable capabilities that can be scaled and improved over time, while preserving the customer-specific context required for each deployment.

Automate meaningfully advances this services-plus-software model. It provides a production platform for complex accounting workflows and a foundation from which Cognida can expand into connected accounting and operations processes. The goal is to help customers move from isolated AI deployments toward intelligent, governed, and continuously improving ways of operating.
